By now, we have contacted our team members for this years trip. Narrowing down applicants is a difficult process. If you were not selected as part of this years team, we encourage you apply again next year.

WELCOME, ADVENTURERS!

For those of you selected to be part of the 2019 summer program, welcome.

YOU are going to embark on a life changing adventure to the heart of Africa, where you will help create KEY CHANGE in the lives of hundreds of children. How cool is that?!

When is this trip happening?

The 2019 Summer Trip program will take place from May 27, 2019 through June 16, 2019. These dates also include two days of pre-trip training in San Diego.

What about my trip deposit and payments?

To secure your spot on the trip, you have to make a non-refundable trip deposit of $600 by February 17th, 2019. This deposit fee will be deducted from the overall trip cost of $3,500. The remaining trip fee (of $2,900) is due no later than March 29th, 2019. If you would able/like to make a one time payment in full, you are more than welcome to do so.

Please clearly label it as either a trip deposit or full trip payment.

What if I need some help fundraising some of my money?

We understand that $3,500 is a lot of money. We think fundraising is a great way to reach out for financial support. Sometimes finding the right words can be difficult, so we’ve started a fundraising letter for you, here. Feel free to elaborate and make it your own.

You’ll be hearing from us more and more as we get closer to our trip, but if you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to us. We are always here and happy to help.

THE FINE PRINT

Are you ready to help change lives?

If selected, you will help change lives through the power of the arts. You will take part in a two week long summer camp where you will work hands on with the youth of Uganda. From organizing camp activities to working with the local community programs. You will be transformed. You will work hard and be pushed to your limits, but it will be tremendously fulfilling every single day. You will be the key change. Are you ready? Then join us for a life-changing adventure on the other side of the world.

What will we be doing on this trip?

At their core, both the Theater Arts Project (TAP) and Christian Youth Theater (CYT), are after school theater arts programs. The main focus of this summer trip is to run a theater arts camp. This means you'll spend a majority of your time with the youth running activities, workshops and games. In addition to the work, their will be plenty of time for play. Whether its a boat ride in the Nile River, a Safari expedition or shopping in a local market, we think you'll stay pretty busy.

What is the financial obligation?

All applicants are required to provide or raise their own funds to cover their trip costs. The total trip cost will be $3,500. This includes (but not limited to) airfare, transportation, hotel accommodations and a meal plan. After acceptance, you will be contacted by a TAP / CYT team member which will assist you in developing your budget and support raising. If selected for our summer program, a non refundable deposit of $600 is required to hold your spot.

What are the health and age requirements?

We do request that all applicants must be in good health. Certain shots and vaccinations are required to travel to Uganda, Africa. Some of them include (but are not limited to) Polio, Typhoid and Yellow Fever. We recommend that you speak with your doctor about what you will need before traveling. All applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of the trip.

What kind of volunteer are you looking for?

We are looking for a team members who want to make a difference. Although we are an after school theater arts program, you do not necessarily have to have any experience in the theater arts. If you're passionate, articulate and ready to change the world, join us.

Is their any required training?

If selected for our 2019 Summer Program, we will work with you to better prepare you for the experience. We understand that this could seem a bit overwhelming, but we will be with you every step of the way. We will have a required one week “boot camp” for the team in San Diego the week before the trip. Housing will be provided by CYT families and training will take place at the CYT San Diego offices.

Okay, I submitted. Now what?

After we have screened all the applications, we set up interviews (on the phone or via the internet) with the candidates we believe might be a good match for our program. From there, we will make our selections. The final team will be put together by February 2019. At that point, if selected, a deposit must be made to secure your spot.
